About us

We are FRC Team 2106, the Junkyard Dogs of Goochland High School, founded in 2006. Over the past 16 years, our team has continued to thrive, with multiple generations of students devoted to developing crucial skills in engineering, programming, teamwork, enthusiasm, and more. Through diligent practices and fierce competition, our students acquire the necessary skills to excel in their future careers and personal lives. Our team takes pride in fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that enables every team member to achieve their full potential.

What is FIRST?

FIRST is a global organization that strives to motivate young individuals to become future innovators and leaders in science and technology. With their robotics programs, FIRST offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in engineering, progratming, and critical thinking, while fostering teamwork, leadership, and communication abilities. FIRST has made a significant impact on thousands of students worldwide by encouraging them to pursue STEM fields and reach their full potential.

FIRST Charged Up

Charged Up challenges robots to deliver game objects, including cones and cubes, to their respective spots on a multi-level scoring grid. The highest-scoring levels are located the farthest back, requiring robots to navigate the field with precision and accuracy. Teams must strategize how to efficiently obtain these game objects, whether it be from the floor or loading stations located at the opposite end of the field. To earn extra points robots climb onto the charge station at the end of the game and strive for balance.
